Our learning across the school
This afternoon Year 6 have been planning a beebot lesson for Year 1 & 2. Using their knowledge of more complex coding, the Year 6s have been challenges with experimenting with how to simplify a lesson.
Katie and Niluxsy said, "It's hard to direct the Beebot in the direction you want. Deciding where it will go next is more difficult that it looks." This has been a great way for the children to experience debugging in a real life context. They have had to make their instructions as simple as possible, a key aspect of coding.
We tested out instructions and used a pen to see if we had been successful. Unfortunately, we were't.
Kiersten and Rebecca tested theirs using masking tape. They were successful!
Next lesson, we will turn our ideas into a lesson plan ready to teach the Year 1 & 2 children.
