Year 5 have been using the Chrome books this week in our English lessons to research planets in our solar system. We then used our research to write information texts, and today we created our own Google slide presentations with what we have found out. Have a look at our fantastic presentations below if you'd like to find out about the planets in our solar system!

Today, in Owls and Hedgehogs, we had our first reading morning of the year! We have had a great start to our reading mornings, with the children enjoying fantastic stories. Thank you to our Owl and Hedgehog families for sharing lots of lovely books with our children. They had an amazing morning. Reading morning will run every Friday in EYFS from 8.30am to 9.00am. We can't wait to enjoy more stories with our families next week!
A big thank you to our Owl and Hedgehog families this week for returning their home learning leaves. We have had an amazing response and really enjoyed reading about the learning happening outside of school. This week's leaf was all about autumn and we got to see photos and lovely leaves collected out and about.
Well done Owls and Hedgehogs!
This afternoon Rowan class investigated different types of bean seeds and then set up an experiment to see what would happen to them if we added water. We then made a prediction about what would happen next. I wonder who has made a correct prediction? We will have to wait and see...
We are pleased to announce the following children as last weeks winners of the Aspire Trophy.
Along with Jamie Year 5 Elm and Tegan Year 4 Lime, each of you have all shown a remarkable effort across all areas of your learning journey.
Congratulations and keep up the good work!
This week, Chestnut & Oak class have been estimating numbers. We used squared grids and base 10 to decide how big or small we thought a number would be, based on how many we could roughly fit into the grids. Here are some photos of some of the children.
As we are fast approaching the fourth week of term we are beginning to settle into our new classes. Both Miss Green and Miss Funnell are impressed at how quickly we are settling into the class and coming in ready to learn! We are immersed in our Great Fire of London project and have read 'Toby and the Great Fire of London'. The story follows the life of a boy experienced the fire and we have been writing letters to him to find out more about what happened. During our maths lessons have been securing our number knowledge ensuring we know how to order and compare numbers and use a number line. We have also been practising our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. We are still learning our song '1666' but if you ask your child we are sure they will love to share it with you so far. Key stage assemblies have begun to look at our Christmas performance, we look forward to sharing roles, costumes and lines to be learnt by the October half term.
