Welcome back to Autumn 2. We hope that you have a lovely half term and are ready for another busy term. We kick start our new story, Owl Babies, with an exciting beginning! Real life owls came to visit us. Bob brought 3 of his owls; Spike the Eagle owl, Gizmo the Transformer owl and Archie the Barn owl. They flew around our hall and knew their names when we called them.
Some of us even had the opportunity to experience an owl land on our arm, with the help of an adult! Miss Funnell was so brave and an owl landed on her leg! We listened to how quietly they flew and learnt lost of interesting facts. That we hope the children can remember and share some with you. The children thought of some amazing questions for Bob, for example, how does an owl stay in the air? How do owls see in the dark? Who is the oldest owl?
We continued an owl filled day, with a visit from Andy the potter. We sculpted our very own owls, remembering the details of their flat faces, beaks and sharp talons. Andy is going to fire them in the kiln and on his next visit we will be able to paint them with his special paint before we take them home.
