The internet is a powerful place and there are lots of fantastic apps aimed at children. Apps such as music.ly have risen in popularity with children all over the country.
Music.ly allows users to sing to popular songs and video themselves. Unfortunately the videos they create are then publicly available. These videos can be saved and re-posted without the knowledge of the content creator. In addition to this, many of the songs used on music.ly are not appropriate for children of primary school age, containing content which may leave them worried or upset.
We would recommend always discussing online safety with your child, as we do at school, and ensuring that you have control over the apps they can/can't download.
Common Sense Media have a user created forum of app reviews which might be a good place to start if you are unsure about which apps are age appropriate for your child.
