On Monday our whole school took part in a maths puzzle day. We all used a baravelle spiral to link to our maths and art work for the day. In EYFS, children enjoyed counting the triangles and squares and making a jigsaw puzzle out of the shape. In KS1, children investigated the different shapes and practised their measuring skills. Some of our year 2 children also calculated what fraction of the triangles in the shape were red.
In KS2, children investigated the perimeter and area of the different shapes, and some year groups spotted patterns in the shape to make predictions about the size of different squares in the shape. Some children even recreated a baravelle spiral using different shapes such as pentagons or hexagons.
It was lovely to see the children talking so enthusiastically about maths and create their own artwork inspired by maths.
