Year 4 enjoyed an Ancient Greek Day on Friday to ignite their literacy and project work this term. We learned all about two of the most powerful city states in Greece; Athens and Sparta, and how their governments were run as a democracy and dictatorship retrospectively. We then worked in teams to complete ancient Greek puzzles and games. In the afternoon, we listened to a Greek warrior demonstrate the uses of weapons and armour used during combat. We loved acting out the chants and fighting stances used to frighten the opposition which was perfect practice for our debate as Athenians and Spartans, both sides making valuable contributions. Finishing off the day, we competed in our own Olympic games. Overall, we have a fantastic day and leaned a lot about ancient Greek life and culture.
