Our Learning This Half Term
Welcome to Autumn 1 half term! This half term we are learning all about ourselves. Once we have visited everyone at home, we will then look forward to seeing you all on your first day.
During this half term, we will be learning all about ourselves and our families. Looking at how our lives are similar and celebrating our differences.
We will introduce the Talk for Writing scheme, we will be reading the stories Titch and Elmer
We hope that with support, we can encourage the children to come into the unit independently and put their things away and start their school day. We understand that this may be more difficult for some children but we will continue to support you and them with this. Each day a member of staff will be on the door to greet you and the children.
PSHE will begin with introducing our Jigsaw scheme; with the help of Jigsaw Jenny we will be beginning to look at All About Me.
The root we are following for our Golden Leaves this term is respect all . These will be celebrated alongside our Aspire winners in our Key stage assembly on a Wednesday afternoon.
Our curriculum is split into several sections and below you can read about what we will be learning in each of these areas, these will be linked to any Tapestry observations that are made, once your account has been created.
Personal and Social
We will be learning to try new activities and say why they like some activities more than others. The children will grow their confidence in choosing and resourcing their own activities. We will support them in building positive relationships with their new friends.
Communication, language and literacy
We will enjoy our new stories and learn how to tell a story and what that must involve. We will learn to listen to others in small groups and wait our turn to share our thoughts.
We will begin to look at Numberblocks and learn our numbers 1-5, saying one number for each object as we count.
Understanding of the world
We will be talking about events in our own lives and how they differ from other peoples. Through PSHE we will look at our families and celebrate our differences and similarities.
Expressive arts and design
We will be beginning to grow our singing skills and then we will use these to begin to learn our nativity songs. We are looking at our faces and creating representations of them using different materials.
How you can help at home
Read with your child for ten minutes everyday.
Practice their common exception words
Can they write their own name?

Can they find objects to match numbers given.
