A huge congratulations to Alex (Yr 4) and Betsaleel (Yr 6) for representing the school at the Athletics finals today.
Making the finals puts them in the top 10 children in the whole of Milton Keynes.
Both boys showed their determination and put in a huge amount of effort. Well done!
This afternoon Year 6 have been creating and printing In the style of Mayan Glyphs. We studied the meaning of different glyphs and then created our own. They look fantastic.
When the weather is good we have to take advantage of it.
The children have had an amazing fun day on our school field today. The pictures say it all.
Last week the Owls and the Hedgehogs were very excited to meet Matilda the hen and her three baby chicks. We reminded ourselves of the life cycle of a hen and then watched a video of the Matilda's chicks hatching from their eggs. Mrs Gardner and Miss Thompson then very carefully picked up a chick each for the children to stroke. We had to be quiet and very gentle so that we did not scare them. We wanted to say a big thank you to Jacob's grandad who owns Matilda and her chicks for letting us look after them for the morning.
Year 5 have been working with Andy this half term to create some volcanoes! We can't wait to get them glazed and into the kiln!
We are very pleased and excited to announce that Great Linford Primary School has been shortlisted in the MK Gallery Young Architect 2018 competition. A few weeks ago, Taiba (year 6), Liam (year 6), Alfie (year 3) and Zavier (year 3) worked extremely hard to create a building based on the MK Gallery's concept of 'City Club'. The children researched on the playground what leisure building Milton Keynes was missing and after tallying the results, came up with an indoor water park. As a team, they created a design and spent a week building their creation of a water park, hotel and green space using lots of different materials. All the children worked extremely hard and we are very proud that they have been shortlisted. The families and children involved will be invited to attend a special preview evening on Thursday 5th July to see their work and find out the winners! All the work will be shown in a special exhibition at the MK Gallery Project Space from the 6th July till 28th July. If you have chance, pop along and see their amazing creation!
We wish the children the best of luck in the competition and cannot wait to find out who are the winners! Good Luck Great Linford Primary School!
This week the Owls and Hedgehogs were very excited to dig up their potatoes we had grown in the garden. We thought about all the different ways we could use the potatoes. We decided we would make potato salad as this was the healthy option! We looked up the recipe and decided we would use crème fraiche, mayonnaise, spring onions and obviously potatoes! The children watched as we boiled the potatoes and then all had a turn at mixing the ingredients together. Everybody had a try and we all decided it was delicious!
On Wednesday 20th June year 2 were so excited to attend the primary music festival. It was held in the Ridgway Centre and year 2 children from across Milton Keynes were included.
We traveled there on a bus, which also caused much excitement! And once there, we were were directed to the seats labelled for Great Linford.
Once our voices were warmed up by the vocal coaches we sang the songs we had learnt; accompanied by a real band. We also learnt new songs with actions.
It was a fantastic experience to sing as a giant choir with other schools and year 2 were amazing and really showed true Great Linford values when out representing our school.
The Choir had a fantastic time rehearing and performing at the 'Out of the Ark' Music festival on Wednesday. All of their hard work for the past term was put together in collaboration with other schools. They did a superb job on their individual song 'Make Someone Happy' and made everyone smile! Well Done Choir!
