Year 6 have had a fantastic time attending St. Andrews church today to take part in ‘Christmas Cracked’. Firstly, we walked through the park to arrive at the church and saw a whole family of ducks on the way. When we arrived, we began by hearing different stories about Christmas and then we got to take part in a whole class game of charades. After this, we created some brilliant craft angels which the children will bring home today! When we got back to school, it was Christmas lunch day so many of the children then had a fantastic lunch too! To top it all off, it is our Christmas Fete this evening! Overall, a very Christmassy day for Year 6!
The children have loved coming into school today in their Christmas jumpers! They have been excited to show their friends and teachers.
This afternoon many children had a lovely time as they were given the chance to share their love of reading with other children from a different year group. Every class was paired up with a different year group, many varied in age range and lots of the Year 6s were brilliant at reading with children from Foundation Stage. Each child picked a book and sat in pairs or small groups and read the story or had the story read to them, discussing their favourite parts as they went along. It was a great opportunity for them to develop reading for pleasure whilst also creating new relationships with different children, we are looking forward to the next buddy reading session!
