Year 1 all became honorary coastguards today as we were very lucky to have a volunteer from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution come to visit our school today. He taught us all about how to stay safe on the beach and in the sea. When it came to trying on an outfit, Miss Flynn was the first in line to wear all the gear however she very kindly let Mr Shipton try on the helmet. Thank you to Chris from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution for giving up his time to come and speak to us.
Wednesday was also a day which was slightly different for Year 1 as we got to showcase our drama skills and act out the story of Grace Darling who rescued 9 people when their ship had crashed into rocks near Graces’ lighthouse. The children were able to step in to the roles well and convey the emotions of the people involved at the time. Well done Year 1. Thank you all for a fantastic first week back.
