Assemblies at Great Linford Primary School
Music in AssembliesMusic has an important place within our assemblies in order to develop the children's exposure to different music as part of our wider curriculum. Each week, we listen to different music in assemblies and we learn a little about each piece: the music itself or the musician.
An integral part of our Key Stage celebration assemblies on Thursday's and Friday's is singing. |
Our Assembly AimsAt Great Linford Primary School we value the importance of community. Part of this is the importance of social and emotional connections. Shared worship during assemblies allows us to celebrate our own and other's achievements, reflect on our own thoughts and values in addition to fostering a sense of school pride. Whether listening to invited guests or sharing our Home Learning, assemblies play a central role in the life at Great Linford Primary School.
Whole School AssemblyEach half term, our new value is launched in a Monday assembly. All classes attend this assembly where we share the value and are able to discuss it together and what it means to us. Whole school assembly allows children to talk about what values mean at home as well as school and share their own opinions, thoughts and reflections with others. We follow the JIGSAW PSHE scheme which guides our thoughts and discussion.

Celebration and Values AssembliesEach week, KS1 and KS2 have a celebration assembly which helps explore our PSHE Jigsaw values which also relate to our school ROOTS. The PSHE Jigsaw value is also explored in lesson time by the children. Children who have achieved against the weekly value are celebrated. Music is incorporated in all our assemblies. Children have the opportunity to develop their singing in celebration assemblies through a wide range of song choices designed to develop their exposure to different music as part of our wider curriculum.
Year Group AssemblyWe are very much enjoying being able to share, celebrate and reflect as year group again. Our weekly Year Group Assemblies are a critical means to celebrate achievements such as our Confident Voice Awards, Pen and Pencil Awards as well as reflect upon our current PSHE themes. Additionally, teachers are also singing songs linked to our seasonal celebrations. For example, Christmas or Harvest songs.

At the end of each term we get together as a whole school and celebrate the achievements of the children in their home learning.
