Great Linford Primary School Governing Body Information 2021-2022
Great Linford Primary School has a strong, supportive governing body made up of representatives from the Local Authority, school staff, parents and the local community. Our Governors are a diverse group of individuals with a broad range of professional and personal skills, experiences and attitudes. However, they all share a common goal, which is to help the school provide our pupils with the best education possible. Through working closely with the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team, and by observing, discussing and documenting, our Governor’s actively demonstrate their commitment to ensuring that:

Governors have three main responsibilities:

Competency Framework:
The Governing Body follows the guidance of the updated Governance Handbook and Competency Framework and are currently undergoing training with this. Please click here to view the Competency Framework.
Governors meet twice a term as a full governing body and then additionally for sub-committees and governor training. Link governors and governor teams with specific responsibilities also undertake regular visits to the school to meet with staff and children.

Governors have three main responsibilities:
- To determine the strategic direction of the school and oversee school development, as outlined in the School Development Plan.
- To contribute to the school’s self evaluation process, which involves, amongst other things, consulting parents, pupils and staff about their views of the school, responding to the recommendations made by Ofsted and reviewing the results of the National SATS tests.
- To act as a ‘critical friend’ by providing support and challenge through asking the right questions and providing an informed opinion on the school’s actions and proposed activities.

- Strategic leadership that sets and champions vision, ethos and strategy.
- Accountability that drives up educational standards and financial performance.
- People with the right skills, experience, qualities and capacity.
- Structures that reinforce clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
- Compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.
- Evaluation to monitor and improve the quality and impact of governance.
