Great Linford Primary School Governing Body Information
Great Linford Primary School has a strong, supportive governing body made up of representatives from the Local Authority, school staff, parents and the local community. Our Governors are a diverse group of individuals with a broad range of professional and personal skills, experiences and attitudes. However, they all share a common goal, which is to help the school provide our pupils with the best education possible. Through working closely with the Executive Headteacher, Head of School and Senior Leadership Team, and by observing, discussing and documenting, our Governor’s actively demonstrate their commitment to ensuring that:
“All children at Great Linford Primary School are engaged and challenged by learning in a safe and caring environment”.
Governors have three main responsibilities:
Effective governance is based on six key features:
Competency Framework:
The Governing Body follows the guidance of the Governance Handbook and Competency Framework.
Governors meet regularly as a full governing body and then additionally for sub-committees and governor training. Link governors and governor teams with specific responsibilities also undertake regular visits to the school to meet with staff and children.
We are always happy to talk with you about any matters related to the school and your children.
If you do have any concerns about your child or the school in general, please contact the class teacher or a member of the Senior Leadership Team in the first instance.
“All children at Great Linford Primary School are engaged and challenged by learning in a safe and caring environment”.
Governors have three main responsibilities:
- To determine the strategic direction of the school and oversee school development, as outlined in the Strategic School Improvement Plan.
- To contribute to the school’s self evaluation process, which involves, amongst other things, consulting parents, pupils and staff about their views of the school, responding to the recommendations made by Ofsted and reviewing the results of the National SATs tests.
- To act as a ‘critical friend’ by providing support and challenge through asking the right questions and providing an informed opinion on the school’s actions and proposed activities.
Effective governance is based on six key features:
- Strategic leadership that sets and champions vision, ethos and strategy.
- Accountability that drives up educational standards and financial performance.
- People with the right skills, experience, qualities and capacity.
- Structures that reinforce clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
- Compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.
- Evaluation to monitor and improve the quality and impact of governance.
