An Introduction to our Learning Mentor
Welcome to the Learning Mentor page.
My name is Julie Newton. I have supported many families over the years in this Learning Mentor role. Please take a look below at what my role involves.
If you would like to contact me please call the Office 01908 605027, talk to me on the playground or email directly mentor@greatlinfordprimaryschool.co.uk
What does my role involve as a Learning Mentor?
I am able to provide information and support to families and children to get them the help they feel they may require.
I am able to promote and enhance the relationship between home and school, often working alongside the teachers to reach successful outcomes for the children and families.
I am based in the Lounge - a relaxing room in the school where children and families can come to talk freely about any issues they are facing.
I work in partnership with a wide range of agencies and professionals to deliver support and guidance where needed.
I can help support parents where it’s appropriate, with useful strategies and routines.
I prepare information and attend various meetings to support our families.
I represent the school in a variety of ways and we are always looking for new opportunities to support.
I am always on hand to help our families to complete free school meal forms, nurse referral forms etc.
I work alongside our school's designated safeguarding lead (Mr Bolger) to support our children and families as needed.
I induct new staff and volunteers and do the appropriate checks to keep our staff and children safe in school.
I can offer emotional and social support for children whilst they are in school and help children to understand how to follow our roots and values.
I can signpost you to outside agencies, organisations and professionals that can offer the relevant support or advice.
