An Introduction to our Learning Mentors
Welcome to the Learning Mentors page; our names are Carol Mallett and Julie Newton. We have supported many families over the years.
We have built excellent relationship with many families and we are happy to support many more families in the future. Please take a look at what our role involves.
If you would like to contact us please call the Office 01908 605027, talk to us on the playground or email directly carol.mallett@greatlinfordprimaryschool.co.uk or julie.newton@greatlinfordprimaryschool.co.uk
What does our role involve as Learning Mentors?
As the school’s Learning Mentors we are able to provide information and support to families and children to get them the help they feel they may require.
We are able to promote and enhance the relationship between home and school, often working alongside the teachers to reach successful outcomes for the children and families.
We are based in the Lounge - a relaxing room in the school where children and families can come to talk freely about any issues they are facing.
We work in partnership with a wide range of agencies and professionals to deliver support and guidance where needed.
We can help support parents where it’s appropriate, with useful strategies and routines.
We prepare information and attend various meetings to support our families.
We represent the school in a variety of ways and we are always looking for new opportunities to support.
I am always on hand to help our families to complete free school meal forms, nurse referral forms etc.
We work alongside our school's designated safeguarding lead (Mrs Dixon) to support our children and families as needed.
We induct new staff and volunteers and do the appropriate checks to keep our staff and children safe in school.
We can offer emotional and social support for children whilst they are in school and help children to understand how to follow our roots and values.
From 8:30 each morning and 3pm each afternoon, when we open our school gates, we are on the playground and available for parents/carers to talk to us about any worries or appointments regarding their children they may have. At Great Linford we like to celebrate anything that the children and their families have achieved so please share them with us!
Sometimes we are unable to help, but we would hope to be able to signpost you to outside agencies, organisations and professionals that can offer the relevant support or advice.
