RE at Great Linford Primary SchoolAt Great Linford Primary School, children take part in weekly religious education lessons in which they learn about a variety of different faiths. As part of the curriculum, the children are able to develop spiritually, morally, socially and culturally. The children spend time acquiring and developing knowledge and understanding of the principal religions in Great Britain. This enables them to be able to confidently express their own views and respectfully learn from others of differing religious backgrounds.
We also have a strong link to our local church - St Andrews church. We use these links to help us embed religious education into the curriculum to give our children a rich, balanced and authentic experience. To find out more about St Andrews Church and other churches in the North East take a look at their website. PSHE at Great Linford Primary SchoolAt Great Linford Primary School, the focus on personal, social and health education ensures that children develop to be confident and happy adults. We use the Jigsaw PSHE scheme which is a mindful approach to PSHE learning which is taught from EYFS to Year 6 across the school. Examples of our Sex and Relationships Education units for each year group can be found under the SRE overviews section on this page. To find out more about the Jigsaw scheme you can attend one of our parent sessions on January 29th at 3:30 and 5:30 or click the link below.
https://www.jigsawpshe.com/ Baby watching in Year 4!This year we are taking part in a special baby watching programme for both our Year 4 classes. Once a week a mother brings her very young baby to a school classroom for 20-30 minutes. Mother and baby do whatever is needed: playing, sleeping, feeding, changing, crying, soothing, enjoying being together. The children watch. A Group Leader asks the children questions that encourage them to look carefully and notice how parent and baby signal to each other and attune to each other’s needs, motivation and feelings. All the children's observations are received with interest by the Group Leader as they watch the parent and baby and experience how a secure attachment relationship develops. The programme has been proven to help develop children’s ability to show empathy and sympathy for others over time. The Year 4 children are very excited to start their programme with our volunteer mummy and baby. For more information on this programme please click the link here.
