sats 2022

What are Sats?

Each year the government set a test for all 11 year olds to take at the end of the studies at KS2 - these are commonly known as 'sats tests'. Your class teacher will prepare your child fully for the tests in May.

Your child will set tests in the following subjects:
  • Reading
  • Maths
  • Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS)
Writing and science are assessed by the class teacher through internal and external moderation.

How can I help my child?

At GLPS, we ensure that our children receive a balanced yet rigorous curriculum. This enables the children to confidently tackle their tests whilst also having fun and forming positive relationships with other learners.

If you would like to support your child at home we recommend the following:
  • Daily times table revision.
  • Daily reading with an adult or sibling.
  • Get lots of sleep.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast.
  • Ask them questions; 'What did you learn about today?'
  • Don't be afraid to ask the school for help and support.

Google Classroom Resources

Make sure you have joined the Year 6 Google Classroom for 2021-22. The code needed will have been sent to you via ParentMail but if you are unsure, please contact the school office or speak to your class teacher. Resources will be uploaded regularly on Google Classroom to support the learning which is being done in school. If your child has found something difficult in class, these resources can be used to practise and further build confidence at home.
