This Half Term

Project

This half term we will be learning to:
  • Use maps and atlases to identify different countries
  • Compare historical towns with modern cities

Suggested Activities to Support Learning

To support your child at home you could:
  • Look at a map of Great Britain and explore the different counties
  • Encourage your child to find their home on a map
  • Discuss the climate of different places around the world

Writing

This half term we will be learning to:
  • Write a non-chronological report
  • ​Write a newspaper article
  • ​Write a diary entry in role

Suggested Activities to Support Learning

To support your child at home you could:
  • Watch Goodnight Mr Tom
  • Read Goodnight Mr Tom
  • Look at pictures of traditional English villages
  • ​Look at the key events of WWII

Maths

This half term we will be learning to:
  • Use common factors to simplify fractions and use common multiples to express fractions in the same denomination.
  • Compare and order any fraction, including fractions >1.
  • Multiply and divide numbers up to 3 decimal places by 10, 100 and 1000 where the answers are up to 3 decimal places.
  • Multiply 1 digit numbers with up to 2 decimal places by whole numbers.

To support your child at home you could:
  • Watch the mathantics videos on fractions - Click here
  • Practise the 3,4,6,7 times tables
  • Cut up food into different fractions and discuss how many pieces have been eaten.
