 Project - Mary Anning and the dinosaurs

This half term we will be:
  • Learning the names of different dinosaurs.
  • Investigating what a primary source is and what primary sources we have available to us.
  • Finding out who Mary Anning was and why she was important.

  • Take a trip to Lyme Regis.
  • Research different dinosaurs.
  • Look at different fossils.

  • Create a piece of art around dinosaurs.
  • Sketch a famous person from the past.

  • Create and play a pattern by clapping.
  • Use graphic notation to mark down ideas in a sequence, in a pattern or in a combination of sounds.
  • Play the chime bars.

To support your child at home you could:
  • Listen to a piece of music and discuss the pitch and tempo.
  • Create a piece of music using your hands. You could record your piece as a video. 





PE

This half term we will be learning to:
  • Gymnastics (Indoor PE) - Shapes and sequences. 
  • Catch and Throw (when weather permits).
NB: Please ensure that children have a full PE kit in school at all times. Please also ensure that the children have appropriate clothing in case of cold or inclement weather. If you are unsure or have any questions please feel free to ask a member of the year 2 team.

  • Discuss the benefits of physical exercise and the effect that it has on our bodies.
  • Create a routine using different shapes, jumps and rolls.
