 Project - Rainforests

This half term we will be learning to:
  • ​Identify where in the world rainforests are located.
  • Understand how people live in the rainforest.
  • Understand how rainforests are changing and why.
  • Understand how local woodland is used.

Suggested Activities to Support Learning


To support your child at home you could:
  • Create your own 'fact file' about a rainforest
  • Visit the 'Living Rainforest' in Berkshire
  • Visit a local woodland and find out about how it is used.

  • Describe melting, freezing, condensing and evaporating. 
  • Describe the different stages of the water cycle.

  • Create several pencil tones when shading and create a simple 3D effect.
  • Explore the effect of holding a pencil in different ways and applying different pressures.
  • Use charcoal and rubber to show areas of light and dark in their drawings.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of the relative size of the objects they draw.
  • Show some awareness of how to create contrast by including areas with more and less marks.
  • Create an interesting finished drawing based on their original composition, including detail such as contrast and pattern.

Indoor PE:  Dance
This half term we will be learning to:
  • ​Demonstrate stillness by holding a position with control.
  • March in time with the music and in unison with a group.
  • Create a motif for a chorus with a particular theme.
  • Use gesture and facial expression within a dance.
  • Create transitions between dance phases.
  • Carry out a performance, staying in character.

​Outdoor PE:  Cricket
This half term we will be learning to:
  • Retrieve a ball and return it to the wicket.
  • Hit a drop feed ball with a cricket bat.
  • Choose the correct throw for different distances.
  • Bowl a ball underarm at a wicket.
  • Demonstrate a correct technique when close catching and deep field catching.
  • Be able to follow the rules of a cricket game.
