Project - Ancient Egypt

Picture
We will be learning about:​
  • ​The achievements of the earliest civilizations.
  • Ancient Egypt in depth.
  • Howard Carter: who he was and what he discovered.
  • The artefacts found in Tutankhamun's tomb and what they tell us about his life and death.
  • what may have caused Tutankhamun's death.
  • the length of the time of the Ancient Egyptians from about 3100BC to 332 BC

  • Look at where Egypt is found on maps and a globe.

  • Use subordinate conjunctions to add more detail to our sentences.

  • Check answers using inverse operation method.
  • Multiply using repeated addition, equal groups and arrays.

  • Go on Doodle Maths daily to keep up streaks and earn stars to make your own Robot. Please let your child do this independently as this program uses algarythms to ensure the correct levels are being accessed.

  • Encourage them to play Spelling Frame.
  • Look at and talk about newspaper layouts.

  • Create a page of information using cut out pieces of pictures and text and change the layout manually to choose a preferred layout.

This half term we will be learning all about Rocks and Soils. We will be learning :
  • describe the appearance of rocks
  • group rocks based on absorbency, hardness and reaction to acid rain (vinegar).
  • describe fossil formation and identify fossils in rocks.​

To support your child at home you could allow your child to:
  • research palaeologists  .
  • observe the appearance of rocks closely, using a magnifying glass. ​

  • ​.Explain what ragtime music is.
  • Play on the ‘off beat’ and sing a syncopated rhythm.
  • Play a call and then improvise a response.
  • Improvise or compose a scat singing performance with sounds and words.
  • Compose and play a jazz motif fluently, using swung quavers.
  • Play a swung rhythm using a tuned percussion instrument.

To support your child at home you could:
  • Research some famous Jazz Musicians.
  • Listen to different pieces of music and see if you can hear any instruments in the music. 
  • Use basic instruments or objects at home to create your own music.
  • Listen to the different noises around you and  comment on how the sounds different
  • Use a recording app to create a 'soundscape'.

Indoor - Fitness
Outdoor - Invasion games

 Please ensure children have appropriate clothing in case of cold weather such as jumpers and jogging bottoms. Children will be wearing PE kit on PE days for the whole day so these must be suitable for the weather.
